After
In the musty aftermath
of last night’s rain
and
a sense of your body’s comfort
I pace
our room, arranging books
or washing cups
till I’ve tidied away the morning.
Settling down to my table
this afternoon, too, will pass –
sifting listless pages,
while
I hear again a sound of dogs
that miles away
through sleep were barking.
